Michael James Secrest, loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, passed away peacefully on December 1st, 2018, at the Minneapolis VA Medical Center at the age of 67, after a battle with complications following cancer treatment. His family was by his side throughout his journey, along with a fantastic nursing staff. Mike was born on April 30, 1951 to Donald and Majel (Holmberg) Secrest. He went to school in Stillwater District 834, graduating in 1969, then he joined the US Army in October 1969, spending 3 years in Germany and Vietnam, where he earned the Bronze Star Medal. After his military service, he worked at Andersen Windows for 23 years, while raising a family and hosting many family parties at the pool. He loved being in the country and working on the Secrest farm, also raising pheasants, emus, and driving tractor for the See farm, all in West Lakeland. In his later years, he moved up to Laporte, MN full-time where he enjoyed deer hunting and loved spending time cruising in his truck listening to the Twins or Vikings on the radio. He was preceded in death by parents, Donald and Majel. Survived by daughter Heather (Jeff) Bergerson, and son Micah; grandchildren, Madeline, Benjamin and Abraham; his siblings, Mark, Lary, Merilee (Pete), Becky (Frank), and Brenda (John); several nephews, nieces; and many friends in Stillwater, Laporte, and everywhere he went.
