Mary E. Ireland Eversman

Mary E. Eversman, age 61, of rural Kellogg, died Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at Methodist Hospital after a courageous battle with esophageal cancer.  She was born September 13, 1951 in St. Paul, the daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth (Selby) Ireland.  She graduated from Stillwater High School in 1969.  She then moved to Gainesville, FL where she studied and received her licensed practical nurses certificate.  She worked in ophthalmology at the naval hospital there.  She later moved back to St. Paul and then in 1973 she moved to Reads Landing.  She married John Eversman July 31, 1982 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in rural Kellogg.  Mary was a homemaker and she worked as an optician in Winona, Rochester and Wabasha.  Currently she was employed as a personal care attendant at Great River Homes in Wabasha. 

Mary was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and a very active member of its Council of Catholic Women.  She was a dedicated EMT member of the Kellogg Area First Responders and she was an active volunteer for the Rochester Chapter of the American Red Cross.  She also was an EMT for Xtreme Care for the moto-cross races at Spring Creek and Midway. 

She loved spending time with her family, especially her sons and her grandchildren.  She will be dearly missed by her family and her many friends. 

Mary is survived by her husband, John Eversman, Kellogg, MN; three sons and daughter-in-law, John and Tambi Eversman, Plainview, MN, Joseph Eversman (Holly Hayes), Kellogg, MN, Matthew Eversman, Onalaska, WI; five grandchildren, Mazie and Stella Eversman and D. J., Seth and Adreawna Norris; one great-granddaughter,  Ariel Lokken; her father, Thomas Ireland, Wabasha, MN, sisters and brothers-in-law, Sharon and Jim Burrichter, Weeki Wachee, FL, Barb and John Hanson, Wabasha, MN; brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Karen Ireland, Reads Landing, MN; nieces, nephews and cousins.  She is further survived by Johns’ family, sisters and brothers in-law, Shirley Huth, Wabasha, MN, Alice and John Deming, Plainview, MN, Bonnie and Bruce Wilson, Theilman, MN, Barbie and Bob Hewitt, Rochester, MN; brother and sister-in-law, Eugene and Lynn Eversman, Plainview, MN; nieces, nephews and cousins.  She was preceded in death by her mother, Elizabeth Ireland, brother, Tom Ireland, and her paternal and maternal grandparents. 

A funeral Mass will be offered on Friday, August 9, 2013 at 11:00am at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church at Conception, rural Kellogg with the Reverend William Becker officiating.  Her body will be cremated following the Mass.  Casket bearers will be members of the Kellogg Area First Responders.  Family and friends may call at the Abbott Funeral Home on Thursday from 4-8pm where there will be a prayer service at 8pm and at the church on Friday one hour before the service.  The family prefers memorials.
